Watts & Prominence is an ongoing compilation of artifacts collected during summit activations for Summits On The Air https://www.sota.org.uk. Working across the overlapping disciplines of amateur radio and peakbagging, the project documents radio communications on prominent topography throughout the American West.
The archive combines film and digital photography with annotated topographic maps, observed data, collected specimens, and fragments of audio gathered en route to and during activations. Rather than functioning as route beta or technical documentation, these records preserve traces of atmosphere, weather, isolation, propagation, and presence within the landscape.
Entries accumulate slowly over time as a growing body of observations exploring human connection reliant on radio science and movement through remote terrain.
